Health Program

Health on Wheels Program in 20 villages of Fatehpur Sikri, Agra

This proposed project is linked to the Sustainable Development Goal 3(SGD 3) of our NGO which is dedicated towards ensuring healthy lives and to promote well-being for all at all ages. We can achieve this by improving the Maternal and Neonatal health status of the community by increasing awareness related to health issues and accessibility to health services.

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target is of 70 maternal deaths per lakh live births. India's MMR is 113 right now and Uttar Pradesh has MMR of 208. In Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, 42.7% mothers had at-least 4 Ante Natal Check-ups and 11.3% consumed Iron Folic Acid for 180 days or more. Only 89.1% births took place in a recognized Institution and 74.1% children (12-23 months) were fully vaccinated which are essential to ensure prevention, detection and management of complications. Rural areas of Uttar Pradesh have little to no access of healthcare facilities and have shortfall in PHC & CHC centres by 51%.

Our foundation wants to bridge this gap by Proposed Project Intervention.

Proposed Project Intervention:

The project will have five components of total 7.80 Cr budget & we intend to cover 20 villages every fortnight, 69,258 beneficiaries of Fatehpur Sikri block of Agra district for 24 months/2 years. Each village will have 4 awareness sessions and 2 Health camps during the project cycle.

General Health Awareness sessions

A field team comprising of community mobilizer would be hired and trained for the purpose of conducting the awareness sessions through short films, nukkad natak, etc. Awareness sessions on pre-conception care, care and support during pregnancy, importance of right nutrition, importance of personal hygiene, and maternal and child health topics.

Mobile OPD camps

A Mobile Health Unit (MHU) is an innovative method to bring primary healthcare and has proven to be an effective strategy to bring much needed health care services to rural areas. A Mobile Health Unit (MHU) will be operated in the given areas conducting health camps. The MHU would be staffed with an MBBS doctor, a staff nurse, a pharmacist, and driver.

Special days celebration

Special days celebration like World Breastfeeding Week, World Health Day, International Day of the Girl Child, World AIDS Day, etc. are essential to sensitize the community on the issues related to the day being celebrated. We intend to celebrate 8 such events each year to sensitize and bring awareness among the community members.

Home visits to pregnant and lactating women

A visitation plan of Community Mobilizer from each cluster will be engaged with the project to facilitate the mobilization of the beneficiaries for the project. They can be ASHA, AWW, PRI member or any other influencer in the community who will be provided monthly incentive for their contribution in the project.

Building a brand new hospital

It is proposed to build a 50-bed hospital with all the latest medical amenities in Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh with preventive and curative treatment for Expectant mothers, new moms and neonatal infants as the primary goal. The proposed activities in this project are as follows:

  1. Building the physical infrastructure, including electrical work, interiors and civil building.
  2. Purchasing the hospital's necessary medical equipment.
  3. Maintain a supply of the medicines and other supplies needed for the treatment.

Patients in the intervention area receive comprehensive care: 300 Beneficiaries per month- 2400 beneficiaries during the project cycle and benefits to the society for many generations to come.

Project Outcomes:
  • Improved Knowledge, Attitude and Practice towards common health issues of Maternal and Neonatal health as well as parental and postnatal care of mother and child through health Awareness sessions.
  • Increased access to comprehensive health care services and improved health monitoring of mothers and new-born babies through health camps.
  • Hospital Construction in Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh

The project Duration is 18 months for the Location of Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh. In India, over 75% of the healthcare infrastructure is concentrated in metro cities, and 73% of Indian population lack basic medical facilities. The primary medical centers are lacking over 3,000 doctors and in the last decade, the shortage has increased by approximately 200% in the last five years. . According to NFHS-5 data, the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh has a lot of room for development. The overall value of health indicators, with a particular emphasis on the health of women and children, appears to be low. A whopping 63 percent of women between the ages of 15 and 49 and 78.1 percent of children aged 6 to 59 months are anemic, while 51.1 percent of toddlers under 5 are stunted and 38 percent.

Achieving Universal Health Care (UHC) is a key goal of our project. Where all individuals have access to essential health services without financial hardship. It aims to provide equitable and affordable medical services, ensuring the well- being of the entire population.
